About Pensioners’ Association
To look after and to achieve the legitimate demands of the superannuated officers and their family with full dedication without any discrimination of caste, creed, religion, faith of the pensioners, to create and promote brotherhood and harmony with other fellow officers for a healthy environment and also considering democratic principals, its procedural aspects and other allied matters, initially some superannuated officers of Central Excise & Customs Department viz. Shri Amarnath Chatterjee, Sukomal Mukherjee, Satish Roy, Late Sachindranath Bhattacharjee and Late Tarit Kumar Roy discussed themselves and decided to set up Pensioner’s Association sometime in the month of June, 1998. With some other superannuated Officers of this Department, they organized a general BODY MEETING ON 16TH day of September, 1998, at the Central Excise Club Hajj, 6th floor, Multi Storied Building, Customs House, Kolkata-700 001. The members present in the meeting formed the organization in the name and style The Central Excise & Customs Pensioner’s Association, Kolkata and started functioning successfully, form Central Excise Club Hall, M. S. Building with Late Sachindranath Bhattacharjeeas President, Sri Amarnath Chatterjee as General Secretary, Sri Sukomal Mukherjee as treasurer alongwith some othersas Executive Committee Members.

The object of forming the Association were also :

  • To look after the welfare of its members.
  • To ventilate the problems and grievances of the members (pensioners and family pensioners) served in the Department and try to remove any disparities of benefits, if any.
  • To create enthusiasm in the lives of the members by arranging Picnic, Medical Camp Bijoya Sammilinni and also by publishing journal etc. etc.

From then, yearly Picnic, Medical Camp, and Bijoya Sammilani were performed regularly and a small journal “ Absar Barta “ by name were also published though only for 3/ 4 times. But again, from the year 2015, a yearly Magazine renamed as “ Absar Darpan “ are published regularly with articles/ poems etc. written by the members and their family in a very colourful and decorated manner which is appreciated by all.

In the year 2010, there was a remarkable change in the life of the Pensioners’ Association. After the inclusion of Service Tax unit with the Central Excise & Customs Department, the name of the Pensioner’s Association was renamed as the Central Excise, Customs & Service Tax Pensiones' Association, Kolkata and got it registered in the same year with W.B. Societies Act, 1961, with its present address which was allotted to the Association by the Departmental Authority. From then, the activities of the Asssociation is going on from the present address.

With the increasing number of the members of the association ( which is now roughly 1000), activities of the association are spreading over day by day in different sphere under the abale guidance of the present leadership. Not only members, non members are also getting help and assistance from the association. Apart from pension problem, the association are doing remarkable job in the field of family pension, divorcee pension, disabled pension and pay commission problem etc.

In this year, the association have achieved a memorable job by awarding a lump sum amount to the meritorious and needy students who have passed Madhyamik examination with good marks from different corners through out the state of West Bengal. Perhaps this is a new things in the history of any pensioners association. In this way the association have awarded Rs.1,00,000/- to 21 nos. of students.

Apart from various works related to pensioners, the asociation are doing some job in the welfare of masses/ society also. In the recent years, this association have donated Rs.10,000/- as flood relief in West Bengal, Rs,10,000/- to the family of deceased Jawans, Rs.40,000/- for Kerala flood relief fund etc. etc.

This association office kept open on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week from 1.00 P.M to 6.00 P.M excepting holidays of the parent department.
